I trained as a graphic designer in Mexico City. Then, I studied graphic and furniture design further at the Edinburgh College of Art in Scotland. Throughout my career, I have worked for clients, creating logos, packaging, posters, etc., and also designing and producing my own merchandise to sell. 

When I arrived in Berlin in 2015, I faced the dilemma of either looking for a job in a design studio or starting my own business. I was fortunate to come across initiatives in Berlin that help foreign women, giving them the necessary knowledge and support to become entrepreneurs in Germany. So, I opted for what I love doing the most: creating beautiful things to sell, and in 2021, Ame Gonzalez Papeterie was born.

I design all my products by hand with paint, giving them a unique quality in the depth of the colour and the design. I enjoy the process very much, and I hope the person who will have my designs will share that same joy.

Living in a foreign country and facing daily difficulties in speaking proper German, I find symbols an incredible way to communicate. As designers, non-written language forces us to extract the essence of what we want to communicate, and I love the challenge. That's why you won't find any written messages in my stationery, only symbols and numbers.

All my products are carefully printed CO-neutral, and I use high-quality recycled and mix-certified papers. For some processes, like bookbinding, I work with USE gGmbH, an organization that gives work opportunities to disabled and disadvantaged people in Berlin.

I like human relationships, friends, children, partners, neighbours... and I find that genuine connection sometimes needs more than words or phone messages. As well as actions, a handwritten message can be compelling and a gift. I hope my designs inspire people to, once again, write and draw by hand and, through it, find connection.
